    Notes
    • Warren served in World War I. After marrying Hallie Bailey, he lived in Oklahoma until about 1924. Daughter Wanda Joyce was born in Guymon Oklahoma in 1921. He moved his family to Michigan in 1924 and got a job with the Grand Trunk Western Railroad. They lived first in Detroit, then moved to Battle Creek where son Warren Keith was born in 1930, then moved again to Port Huron. When there was no more work, they returned to Oklahoma in the early 1930's. His father was in poor health, so he managed the family farm. Times were very bad then with the dust storms and the Depression, and they almost starved to death. My mother Wanda told how she was playing outside one day. They had had little food and had been praying for food. She threw a stone up in the air and it came down on the head of a jackrabbit, killing it. They had rabbit to eat that night. In 1932, Warren's father Joseph died. Warren is credited with saving the farm. The winter of 1932-1933 was terrible. There was a bad blizzard one night, and in the morning they found their neighbor frozen to death in a snowbank. They left Oklahoma for good shortly after, returning to Michigan. Warren's sisters followed in 1935. His brother Jessie George moved to Idaho, and his brother Roy remained in Guymon, Oklahoma. Warren was employed by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad in Michigan until his death in a train accident near Burton, Michigan in September 1952. He loved fishing, watermelon, and weeping willow trees.
