    Notes 
    • Moses Harlan, Yeoman, Friend, b. 12, 20, 1683, in the Parish of Donnahlong, County of Down, in the Province of Ulster, Ireland. He came to America with his parents when but four years old. He m. 1712, by ceremony of Friends, at Newark Meeting, Margaret Ray ("spinster"), who came from the same county of Ireland as the Harlans, and was a member of the same meeting--Lurgan. Her certificate of membership in that meeting was received by Newark Meeting 1, 7, 1713.
      Moses and Margaret settled upon a farm in Kennett Twp., and remained there for some years, when they moved to and settled on lands in London Grove, and in 1738 had gone from there into Lancaster (now in) Adams Co., where they remained during the balance of their lives.
      "Moses Harlan and his wife Margaret, and William Webb, convayed to Henry Woodward 180 acres of land (a part of the 280 acres Moses received from his father) by deed of lease and release, dated '4th 5th April 1727.' On the 9th day of October, 1745, he obtained a Patent for 855 acres of land on the upper fork of the Conewago Creek, in Menallen Twp., Lancaster (now in) Adams Co., and on the 21st day of July, 1747, he and his wife conveyed 250 acres of it to his son-in-law John Blackburn."
      Moses Harlan d. in Menallen Twp. between 10, 10, 1747 (the date of the making of his will), and 3, 27, 1749, at which time the same was filed for probating. Margaret, his wife, d. some years subsequent to his death, and both are probably burr. in Friends' Burying Grounds, at Menallen Meeting House, now in Adams Co., Pa.
