Birth date from Quaker Meeting records. Both birth and death date shown in "The Stephens Genealogies in the line of William David Stephens" by Steve Beason (1973). Death date confirmed by Trego County.
Steve Beason, in his publication notes that Alexander moved to Indiana prior to his mother. Steve Beason further states that John Stephens died in Tennessee on August 18, 1853. Soon after his death Hannah, with her children, William, Joseph, Mary, Martha and Hannah Ruth, moved to Indiana. Hannah had family on the Keys line residing in Randolph County, Indiana.
In the 1860 Federal Census, Alexander, William David, and Hannah Ruth (Ruthy), the youngest child of Hannah Keys and John Stephens, are present in Randolph County Indiana. The other children of Hannah and John do not show in the Randolph County census.

Hanna Keys was born June 15, 1808 and died December 04, 1906 being 98 years, 5 months and 19 days old. She was married to John Stephens July 28, 1831. To this union was born seven children, six of whom have passed to the better world, W. D. Stephens (William David) being the only one to survive her. Her husband died August 18, 1853. Later she married Laban Smith. She was again left a widow.
She married Samuel La Fever and lived happy twenty-two years. Then he passed to the heavenly mansion about five years ago.
For the past three years she has made her home with her son, W. D. Stephens, and family .
She was converted in early life and lived a consistant christan life and was ready and waiting for the messenger. She was brought up in the Friends church, but later lived where there were no friends, so she united with the Baptist, but later went back to the Friends, of which church she was a member at the time of her death.
The funeral services were held at the M. E. church Thursday at 12 o'clock, conducted by E. E. Gunckel, pastor of the M. E. church of Ellsworth. A large congregation was at the church. The body was laid away in Wa-Keeney cemetery. Father Stephens and family have the sympathy of the whole community in their sorrow.
