||Hannah Ruth Stephens  |
||15 May 1850
- !CENSUS 1850, Tennessee, Tennefree District 16, Hawkins County, liv ing with parents and siblings, age 5 months, birthplace Tennessee
In the 1860 Federal Census, Hannah Ruth is shown living with Joseph Keys, his wife Elizabeth and their children Eli and Lindo. This Joseph Keys is the son of Benjamin P. Keys, the nephew of Hannah Keys and the cousin of Hannah Ruth Keys. The census designates Hannah Ruth as an orphan however, this is not correct as her mother was still living. Hannah Keys Stephens had married a second time to Leban Smith on October 28, 1856 as shown in Marriage records for Randolph County, Indidana as noted below. The federal Census has not yet been checked for Laban Smith and Hannah but they do not show in the Census Index for 1860 It is possible that they were not in Randolph County or that they had moved Westward.
